Summary

Based on the community assessment wheel (Anderson & McFarlane, 2008), three assets and needs of health and social services in the Grandview-Woodland community are identified in this section.  The information is based on the observations from the windshield surveys and the walkabouts, and also the secondary data, including community surveys for local residents and business and interviews with community leaders.

The three assets identified are the health clinic for babies, children and parents; the three addiction services and programs; and the culturally-based health and social services for Aboriginal people.

The three needs discussed next include safe houses for youth; a local shelter and basic services for people who live on the street; and more mental health services for the Grandview-Woodland community.
