Demographics

                 According to Communitywebpages’ (2001) community statistics, there is a total of 29,085 people living in the Grandview-Woodland area. About 17.7% of the population is aged 19 and under, 39.8% is between 20-39, 32.3% is between 40-64, and 10.3% is 65 and over. With comparison to 1996’s statistics, the only age bracket that increased in 2001 was 40-64; every other age group decreased in number slightly.  The total population decreased by 0.4% in this area, as compared between 2001 and 1996.

                 Of the 14,355 private households, in the area, 44.4% live alone. The number of housing has increased by almost 1,000 in between 2001 and 1996.  There are  6,755 families in the area with 6,445 children living at home. 26.4% of these are single parent families. The average family income is $46,501.

Ethnicity

                 Resources specific to the Grandview-Woodlands area were not available regarding ethnicity, however language statistics are available. According to Communitywebpages’ (2001) community statistics, 58.4% of the area’s population spoke English, 2.0% spoke French, 16.8% spoke Chinese, 4.4% spoke Vietnamese, 2.8% spoke Italian, and 1.9% spoke Tagalog.

                 With regards to windshield survey data,  there are plenty of  various ethnical restaurants in the area  and each of them are unique. The most common ethnicities observed, in terms of restaurants, would be Greek, Italian, Latin, and a few occasional Asian venues. Most restaurants display their country of origin’s flag or any memorabilia associated with their cultures. Some just reveal their ethnicity by posting it as part of their business title.

Values, Beliefs, & Religion

                 There are a few churches of various religious backgrounds in the area. The majority of the churches would be the Lutheran and Alliance churches; there are fewer Baptist and Catholic churches in the area. There are a couple temples in the area. No mosques were found. Each building was observed and they were found to be homogenous. All of the lawns were cared for, with hardly any garden. No statistics were available specific to the Grandview-Woodlands area regarding religion.
